Before there were universities, Bihar built Nalanda. Before the world had a word for enlightenment, a man sat beneath a Peepal tree on the banks of the Niranjana river in Bodh Gaya and found it. Bihar is not just one of India’s oldest lands. It is the ground on which some of humanity’s most profound ideas first took root, in the soil, in the silence, in the shade of a tree that still stands.
This tee carries that weight with reverence.
The back graphic is built around the Bodhi Tree, and nothing else could anchor it. Its canopy spreads wide against a blazing sun that erupts behind it like a halo the earth itself has earned, amber and gold radiating outward in every direction. Beneath the tree, a solitary figure sits in meditation on stone steps that descend into still, reflective water, the same posture that Siddhartha Gautama held when he became the Buddha more than 2,500 years ago. The entire composition is framed by intricate temple carvings, ancient stonework that speaks to the Mahajanapada kingdoms, the Mauryan empire, to Ashoka who walked away from conquest and toward compassion right here on this land. The Devanagari script sits beneath BIHAR in the same deep gold, rooted and unhurried.
For the Bihari diaspora who grew up knowing their home carried more history than most countries. For those whose ancestors farmed the Indo-Gangetic plain and built civilisations while others were still learning to write. For anyone who understands that the most radical act in human history was a man choosing to sit down, breathe, and think.
